Drawing from extensive experience on both sides of the music stand, I understand how orchestral musicians react to the sheet music put in front of them.
Clarity and ease of interpretation lie at the heart of my approach, freeing your musicians up to respond naturally and expressively to your music.
🎻 ARRANGING
Orchestral arrangements to enhance and elevate the commercial releases and live performances of Recording Artists wishing to add a little magic to their tracks.
I have a soft spot and specialist focus for string arrangements, but enjoy arranging for all instrument groupings , families and ensemble sizes [strings, brass, winds, choirs, keyboards, percussion and select "world" instruments - by consultation].
Pull a big sound out of a quartet or solo grand piano; or submit to the innate lushness of a full symphony-sized group with choir.
🎧 TRANSCRIPTION, REDUCTIONS, PROOF-READING, REPERTOIRE ARRANGEMENTS
*I offer TRANSCRIPTION from Audio or MIDI files, into performance ready sheets for varied performer group sizes - from solo players all the way up to large ensembles. *Combine with ARRANGEMENT services to create re-imaginings of favourites for any desired instrumentation. All genres welcome! *Similarly, I am able to produce complete, yet exciting and idiomatic PIANO REDUCTIONS of orchestral parts for rehearsal/reduced stagings of larger works; operas; ballets; musical theatre etc. Complex contemporary works also welcome! *With a razor sharp eye for detail, I offer PROOF-READING and editing services for the final stages of your own score and part creation. I provide complete and clear visual and textual documentation of suggested edits. Edits can also be executed upon client approval using Sibelius, Dorico or MuseScore.

Laura Stevens
Laura is a London-based, remote capable Composer, Orchestrator and Collaborator for Screen, Stage and Concert.
She also offers services in Orchestration, Arranging and Music/Score Preparation to composers and music professionals , bringing extensive expertise + a practical adaptive approach to studio sessions, stage/pit, and live performance.
In her own work for Screen and Stage, Laura is a believer in the unwavering emotive power of theme, motif and melody, as the natural allies and crystallisers of visual and dramatic storytelling.

A sensitive yet salient musical colourist, with a passion for beautiful Orchestration, (having received mentorship from eminent film orchestrator Conrad Pope), she conjures place, scale and narrative through detailed, shaded, yet lush Orchestral sound worlds; woven together (and at times asunder) by her distinctive, conversational lyricism, and arresting harmonies.
Being the -admittedly unfinished- product of a rolling-stone, multicultural upbringing, she likes to work with music that takes you somewhere:
often fusing the Orchestral and Classical idioms with eclectic world music influences, notably those of Africa and Anatolia, reflecting complex personal relationships with the musical cultures of those regions.
